Calendar of events 2019

2nd   7:30PM Turn the Courthouse Blue – Join Crime Victim Center of Erie County, Children’s Advocacy Center, R.A.A.C.A and distinguished guests as we turn the Erie County Courthouse blue for Child Abuse Prevention Month.

4th          5:00PM – 8:00pm Mandated Reporter Training There is a $10 fee per person. Preregistration is required. Register by calling the office at 814-455-9414. Developed by PCAR (Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape) this training is approved by the Department of Human Services in accordance with Act 31 of 2014 (*AS OF December 1, 2014) and Act 48 with the Department of Education. This curriculum satisfies the requirements of Act 126 for school personnel.

6th         9:00 a.m. CVC March Against Crime/Abram Sorek Memorial Race at Presque Isle – April 28th at midnight is the last day to register to get a tee-shirt, on-line registration ends at midnight on April 3rd and Day of race registration begins at 7:30am on April 6th

6th         10 AM – 1 PM Success By 6 Early Learning Expo At Millcreek Mall Macy’s Court   FREE EVENT

6th         3 PM A Night at the Races – Racing starts at 4 PM Dinner from 5-7PM – $10 at the door (for food and entertainment only – Horses SOLD OUT) Partial proceeds benefit CVC Victim Witness Lounge at the Erie County Courthouse.

9th             7:00PM Take Back the Night Gannon Univ. Starting at Perry Sq. FREE open to public.

10th      10:30 a.m. Pinwheels for Prevention and Proclamation with Mayor Joe Schember at Perry Square Pavilion FREE EVENT

11th         5:00PM CVC Speaker Series—Vanessa McNeal, Film Screening of Gridshock a documentary about Human Trafficking. Gannon University’s Yehl Ballroom

12th         9 a.m.–5 p.m. 6th Annual Victims’ Rights Conference—Hosted by Crime Victim Center of Erie County at the Erie Sheraton Bayfront

13th           10AM-Noon  Be a Hero Fun Day—TREC Center  FREE EVENT

23rd         10:00 a.m. Child Abuse Prevention Poster Contest Award— Judge Domitrovich’s chambers—Courthouse FREE EVENT

24th        Denim Day – Is a rape prevention education campaign. We ask community members, elected officials, businesses and students to make a social statement with their fashion by wearing jeans on this day as a visible means of creating awareness to the misconceptions that surround sexual assault. This is often a fundraising event.

25th         Noon-8PM “What Were You Wearing” Exhibit at CVC – ***TRIGGER WARNING***   The exhibit titled “What Were You Wearing?” features stories of sexual violence and representations of what each victim was wearing at the time of their assault. The outfits include a bikini, a young boy’s yellow collared shirt, a sexy red dress and a T-shirt and jeans.

31th         7PM Closing ceremony & Candle Light Vigil with RAACA at the CVC and a gathering afterwards at Knights of St Johns


May 4th       10AM-1PM  Meet the Hero – Fairfield Firehall
